Words
Welcome back to Netil Radio Weekly,
Pandemic. The word that changed everything. We can see it in every aspect of our life, including the way we party. We had more than a year to think about what we can do in a better, nicer, and safer way.
Let’s be honest - the way we used to party wasn’t always great. And that’s why we took a few heads together and we will try to start a conversation about how to adapt and change things for the better. We teamed up with our friends at Sova Audio and we will try to re-imagine the club model of the future. We will focus on re-thinking the role of alcohol, ticket sales in the club’s business model, why dance music doesn’t work in a “table service techno” setting, and what kind of music can make it work. We will introduce a few new ideas worth considering, and much much more. Obviously we will play music (both live and dj sets!) and stream everything. Mark the date - 27th June. More info soon.
As everything is slowly reopening, it’s time we think outside our usual bubble. Seeing all clubs announcing opening nights, festivals selling tickets and announcing lineups feels great! It gives us the hope that everything will be back to normal. But there is something I’m worried about. I don’t see anyone telling us HOW we are going to make sure that everyone is safe when everything opens. Somehow I fear that there is no plan for this and everyone is just waiting for the government's instructions, as if they had been clear and sensible all along.
Obviously I don't want to cancel the fun. But now, more than ever, it is important to think of others and their safety. Trust me - there is nothing i want to do more right now, than play records in front of a dancing crowd. But the lack of safety information, the absence of a sanitiser when it comes to the DJ booth safety as i experienced last summer, makes me feel uncomfortable.
How do you feel about it? Let us know! Write to us your thoughts about openings - newsletter@netilradio.com with “club openings” in the subject of the email. We will take this conversation to our new upcoming Monday breakfast show.
Stay tuned, stay safe

New Music
Unbounds Events main man DJ Winggold sent us some music tips:
✧ 'The Driving Rain' by Nico - I think that Nico's one of the most interesting producers out there ATM and his latest release for Midnight Shift highlights why. He further crystallises his unique sound here, fusing detailed percussive elements with lush, soaring synths, creating music that makes you dance whilst also making you feel.
✧ 'Temperatura' by Siete Catorce - Bringing together a distinct, hard to place 'bass' vibe with playful melodies and elements of UK funky, the polyrhythmic delights here span a range of different styles, all of which will worm their way into your ears.
✧ 'Aquamarine' by Ehua - Inspired by water, Ehua's debut release for Nervous Horizon sonically explores a wide range of frequencies, taking you below the surface right to the very depths of the ocean and back again. Ranging from 95 BPM - 140 BPM, it's all amazing!!
✧ 'I'm So Bored' by Khidja - Not only does the title reflect how many people have felt over the past year, but the chuggy, brooding and off-kilter sound of the track encapsulates the uncanny nature of recent times.
