Words
Hello and welcome back,
Nine days ago, the world changed once again and it’s not the same world we lived in just those few days ago. One of the forces triggering the change is HATE, and it’s something that we should keep in mind while adapting to the new world. Hate is driving narratives on social media, dividing society and dismantling all spectrums of colours into only two. Hate wants blue to be black and yellow to be white. Now, more than ever, our mind should be open, and critical thinking should be its most active part. Giving ourselves enough time to process things is a good thing to do.
This is putin’s war (lower case P on purpose!) not the Russian peoples’ war. It’s he who became obsessed with old fairy tales, forcing the whole world to believe in something that never existed. For centuries, Russian people have been killed, exiled and imprisoned by their rulers to keep this fairy tale alive. That’s why normal Russians, who have never benefited from this oppressive regime, need to know that we don’t hate them for their president’s crimes. Only then, without hate in our minds and hearts, can we support Russian people to do what they need to do. It’s in their hands now, because only Russians can decide what future they want to live in: the real future, or the “alternative” one.
Taking down oligarchs, putin’s crooks, media clowns and supporters can be done without resorting to hate. It’s easy enough to find out who the crooks are, and it’s not the end of the world if we lose money or “opportunity” by not siding with them - especially if we consider that this is the sort of money that is, if not literally bloody, definitely dirty and most likely stolen from Russian people. Not a very comfortable feeling to have in the back of your mind (Mr. prime minister?)
We’ve been writing about the danger of putin’s money cleaning operation in the UK since long before it was trendy. Those of you who have been following us for a while know that we don’t tend to subscribe to trend “bandwagons”. Ukraine is defending the core principle of freedom and democratic values, and this is a moment when everyone who agrees has to rise up and help them for all future generations. In light of this, we are teaming up with Ransom Note, Sova Audio and Eat Work Art, to mobilise our networks and contribute to the effort.
‘Together for Ukraine’ will gather our community and its extended family to put on a day-long stream on Netil Radio, with a few special video streams on Ransom Note’s Mixcloud page and Sova Audio’s Youtube channel. Scroll down for more info.
Thank you for reading and stay connected

Coming Up
Together for Ukraine - Monday 7th of March 2022 / 9am-11pm
Ransom Note, Netil Radio, Sova Audio and Eat Work Art are joining forces to present ‘Together for Ukraine’ - a 14-hour live stream to raise money for humanitarian relief efforts on the ground.
Taking place on Monday 7th March, we’ll be streaming 14 hours of music from guest DJs and Netil Radio & Ransom Note residents live from Netil Market.
The day will start at 9am with a special breakfast show hosted by Miro and guests Masha and Lesya, who’ll be discussing the current situation in Ukraine and playing music from Ukrainian artists purchased via bandcamp for this purpose. Then from 11am to 11pm the airwaves will be taken over by special guests Glenn Underground, Ivan Smagghe, NIKS B2B Amaliah, Josh Caffe and Wes Baggaley, alongside DJ sets from Netil and R$N residents Jaye Ward, Unbound Events (DJ Winggold and Aidan Ray), Fizzy Disc, ELLES, Rosie Ama, Matt Cowell and TSUNIMAN.
All donations made during the stream will be split equally between the following charities and organisations: Grupa Granica, an organisation who are providing targeted support to Black and POC people at the borders; People In Need, an organisation who are delivering humanitarian aid and assistance on the ground; Black is Polish, a platform helping Black people leaving Ukraine through information on transport and temporary housing; and Voices of Childen, a foundation giving psychological and psychosocial support to children affected by war.
Please give generously if you’re able to. For those who would like to come down and support in person, the music will be streaming in Netil Market throughout the day, with market vendors open and operating.
