Hello & welcome back,
Working with you is refreshing, more efficient and inspirational. You bring positive energy and a strong will to make things better. I personally can’t imagine the music industry without you and I don’t understand why it took so long to let you be a part of it. I know, it’s far from perfect, but there is no way back. The age of Women is here to make the world a better place.
I know. There is still a long way to equality and the future does not always seem to be bright. In the last few years, things got even worse. We are failing to give you the space, safety and respect you deserve. We are failing to accept your status, we are undermining your strength. The violence against you is unacceptable and I am sorry.
I wanted to say things are better than 20 years ago when the female DJ’s performance contained striptease (Slovakia/Hungary circa 2001) and everyone thought it was ok. Those times are thankfully gone, but the music industry has still a long way to go. There will be no equality if we keep having Guns ‘n’ Roses or Elton John headlining Glastonbury. Things like nominating only men in “gender-equal categories” breaks my brain. Most striking is that it’s not rocket science. Just book talented women!
That’s what we do here at Netil Radio. Still not 50/50, but nearly there - 46% of our shows are powered by women's power. And I can promise that we will do everything we can, to be the space where your vision can thrive, and where you feel safe. Stay strong ✊
Thank you for reading
