Hello and welcome back,
It was great to see the establishment and everyone who is tired, angry and disappointed with the establishment go hand in hand and execute one thing together. Synchronisation of this act was a bit wobbly, but we did it. Hope it was worth it, you remember at least some parts and not all of your mates got covid. Again. Many, for second time 🧐 🤯
I spoke to a few people who are in a similar position as I am. We agreed that we are really tired. We haven't had a break since the madness started, we are aware, respectful, careful, flexible, trying to keep our minds open and people we work with safe. The only moment we could breathe a little was in the summer. Last two weeks of 2021 we had 2-3 covid related show cancellations a day and I can't wait for the upcoming week. It didn’t start well and came with a bonus - one of the djs who cancelled the show due to a positive test result, suggested to me that we should close the studio, because all other studios are still not open properly and we (the whole country) should be in lockdown. Said dj who accepted a gig offer and did a dj set on NYE in an environment which is the worst when it comes to the situation we’re in. I’m not gonna lie, this blew my mind. It shows the priorities of today’s society very clearly and sucks the energy of those who care, for the sake of a short glimpse of dopamine in the brain destroyed by the amount of alcohol and drugs by the end. I hope it was worth it..
In 2020 we sacrificed elderly people in care homes, in 2021 we tested our own capabilities and in 2022 we are going to throw children into this, as they are the last layer of society not protected by vaccines. All that for the sake of our own self-centered needs. Are we a society who doesn't care about children? Seeing our approach to the environmental crisis makes me feel uncomfortable.
Let’s be honest, I'm starting to get tired of writing negative editorials for a radio station. This should be fun and most of the time really is. But there is a big silence in our industry when it comes to the reality of the situation we are in and I feel that it’s my duty to ring the bell and be the lighthouse for those who got lost, by trying to find the way through the storm. I believe it’s very important that we are going to try to get out of our comfort zone for once and see the difference between a few times a day sanitised radio studio where you’re pretty much alone, and a club full of people where the equipment you dj on was cleaned only once after a tropical sand party three years ago.
Last week I got a dj booking offer of the dreams. Abroad, in one of coolest spaces on the planet, with one of the best djs on line up. No brainer. Took me two days to digest. My brain was spinning, my heart broke.. But I refused. I refused because it’s just not right to fly abroad in January and dj in the country with a very weak healthcare system and low vaccination rate. My heart is still broken, but I know I did the right thing. Now, more than ever, it is important to do the right thing anytime we can.
With believe in better society

There is a new policy in Wales that encourages people to go and live off grid.
✧ Each household must only use their global fair share of land
✧ Each applicant must also show that within five years, 65% of their basic needs are covered by their patch of land, including food, water, energy, and waste.
✧ Applicants must also come up with a zero-carbon house design using locally sourced and sustainable materials.
✧ Everyone must set up a rural business to pay the sort of bills — internet, clothes, council — that cannot be met with a subsistence-only lifestyle.
That’s all for this week
stay safe, stay connected
