Hello and welcome back,
Summer break is over, autumn is entering our lives and Queen Elizabeth II just passed away… Rest in Peace.
Last few days i spent working on the summer and festival themed editorial, but i think it can wait until next week and today we will pay respects to Queen Elizabeth II, whos long reign encompassed a period that saw some of the greatest changes in technological, industrial, economic and social evolution across the world of any era. She played the part of a modern constitutional monarch, a symbolic figurehead with a right to be consulted, to advise and warn political leaders, represent national life, celebration and commemoration.
Yes I know, I know.. We all have opinions on monarchy, British politics, colonialism and all that jazz, but as a foreigner with no personal feelings, i would love to say that it’s important to respect and mainly - to remember the history, for the sake of the future. We can’t change the moments of the past to the picture of now, but we can try to understand the decisions and consequences the world of today is made of.
With the new king, comes a new opportunity to have a conversation about the role of monarchy in the new era we are entering these days. Especially if we have a government which acts like funfair masters of ceremony accidentally teleported from an alternative world.
Thank you for reading and stay connected

It Takes Time Review Corner - September Edition
by Tony Poland of It Takes Time (3rd Sunday of the month 4-6pm)
✧ Huerco S ft. Sir EU - Plonk XI - Incienso ✧
Sooo, I was contemplating including this track in last month’s inaugural column mostly to publicly express my desire to pivot professionally into music supervision. This song - my favourite Plonker from the Huerco S album - would be perfect soundtracking a cinematic scene of intimate euphoria in a film distributed by A24. I realised that Netil Radio substack subscribers might not be fully aligned with the inner workings of my head just yet and thought better of it.
A far less navel-gazing opportunity to feature ‘Plonk XI’ arrived this month with the freshly-released music video for the track, directed by R+R, which leans into the automotive themes of the Huerco S album as a whole, whilst also leaving lots of room for interpretation. At the time of writing it has only had around 1k views on YT which is mad!!
✧ Born Under A Rhyming Planet - Diagonals - DDS ✧
Years ago there was this Jamie Hodge remix of DJ Vadim which I loved soooooo much; it sorta sounded like a DJ Shadow B-side but with its own particular detuned charms. Anyway I never really looked into who this Jamie Hodge fella was. Fast fwd a decade or two and it transpires Hodge is the focus of this latest DDS release with the Demdike Stare lads taking an archival rummage through his work as Born Under a Rhyming Planet.
It’s obviously all new to me but provides an exceptional snapshot of a producer capable of many different styles of electronic music; from experimental jazzy vignettes to tasteful techno reductions and ambient smudge. If you want an expansive, in depth review then click on the link and read what Boomkat has got to say!
PS here’s a link to a YT upload of the aforementioned Vadim remix so you can fall for its charms too!
✧ Bruxula - Pala Mo - 12th Isle ✧
If you listen to my Netil Radio show then you know Glasgow label 12th Isle are a long-term TP favourite! I’m still working my way through the most recent 12th Isle release, the excellent Studio Spiritual album from S A D, and the label has already announced their next drop. It sees 12th Isle further expand their international community of artists with a debut release from the Toronto-based Bruxula duo of Cosmic JD and Jerusa Leao.
‘Pala Mo’ is the lead track from Bruxula’s upcoming Dark Farfisa EP, and you can understand why it was chosen to introduce the project. A fine example of lightly chugging, club-friendly psychedelia underpinned by Jerusa’s sublime vocals and a wonderful bassline ℅ Ariel Peckel. Very excited to hear the full EP!
