Hello and welcome back,
Here we are again. Another unelected PM gave us a speech - he didn’t hesitate much and reappointed the person who should really be investigated for treason, back into her position. And Leaky Sue is ready to bring the best of post-truth autocracy. Hope you’ve seen TraumaZone already. It will help you to understand what I'm going to say today.
The fact is, our society has so many issues and because of that, any opposition to power dismantling the rights we fought over the centuries for, is fractured. We are swimming around the one, most important problem of any society, any system, hidden in the deep sea of problems. As we have already entered the fantasy world of alternative reality, we can say “The one to rule them all”.
Algorithms are funny. I like to confuse them, but that’s another story. Recently I’ve been watching a conversation with Adam Curtis and algorithms didn’t hesitate to offer me completely opposite content to trigger my negative emotions with the video “how capitalism killed communism”. The problem with the idea behind the video is that it’s telling only half of the story and mentioning the core problem as secondary.
While the UK and US institutionalised racism, the Soviets institutionalised corruption. And after the fall of the Soviet Union they exported it into our democratic, or as you like - capitalist world. I know corruption exists in the west too, but the Soviets created a monster and our leaders were too weak to resist the call of power they can access this way. Corruption - the one problem to rule all problems.
The reality is that it’s the corruption that killed capitalism (a while ago) and it’s killing democracy. The key to the institutionalisation of corruption is the weak ability to investigate and prosecute it. Our old/new/not investigated Home Office Secretary is going to redirect the focus of law enforcement to imaginary problems to waste resources and taxpayers' money on something that can be solved a completely different way.
Corruption is embedded in politics. Fraud is scarcely prosecuted, and the state’s capacity to regulate anything from money laundering to waste dumping is being dismantled. One could almost believe it is deliberate. And if our government wants to achieve what few Russians did in the 90s, they will not do what they do any differently. You might be surprised what one can learn in one tennis match.
Watching the world burning is easy. Resistance needs a good soundtrack and we have you covered.
Thank you for reading and stay connected.
