Hello and welcome back,
To start with, I have to say that I was wrong about the logic of Tories regrouping now that BoJo is out. It seems that logic does not apply in the Conservative party these days.
The Prime Minister is supposed to look over the household; making sure the lights and heating are working and the water is running. BoJo can barely change a lightbulb, and he’s still not happy that his duties are over. The problem is that it may be over for him as the self-proclaimed “European leader” in the war against the imaginary empire of the imaginary emperor, but it’s not over for British people.
Looking at the candidates for our future PM hits like sunstroke - with delirium, shivering and inspecting the contents of my stomach in close detail. Cringeworthy arguments about trans people, economically outdated tax cuts and other distraction tactics are nowhere near reality.
If the next PM wants to solve inflation, or something they’ve probably never heard of like poverty or corruption, they can start with this:
According to Global Financial Integrity there is a hole worth $1.6 trillion in trade statistics between countries in 2018 in latest available data.
Some of that might be due to data entry errors, but if even half of that is down to money laundering, we are talking about a colossal amount of wealth moving around the world undetected.
Transparency International recently reported on a money laundering scheme in which anonymous persons in Russia exported $820 million. And unsurprisingly, it had a UK connection. The report quotes:
“British shell companies played a central role, selling goods in a way that strongly suggests the transactions were fictional, and used to disguise illicit funds being moved out of the country. These revelations show how the UK plays a major role in enabling large-scale suspicious financial flows, potentially depriving the Russian people of funds while benefiting the rich and powerful.”
“Economic crime, particularly fraud, is a volume crime on a scale like no other, requiring an industrialised response beyond traditional criminal justice outcomes” writes Helena Wood of the RUSI think tank. No real problems in this country can be fixed until taxpayer’s money stops disappearing into tax havens. This is money that could fix the NHS, inflation, our social safety net, our economy, and we might even have plenty left for art and culture too.
Sadly, rather than tackle this once-in-a-generation crisis, the Tories have decided to spend the next three months arguing over all the imaginary problems that only populists can create.
On a brighter note, eleven out of ten doctors recommend listening to Netil Radio. It’s good for the mind, good for the soul, good for the community.
Thank you for reading and stay connected

Faery’s tips & words / 3rd Friday of the month 9-11pm
✧ Various - 8th Anniversary - Annulled Music ✧ This is an incredible comp - Annulled have pulled together some of the best bits from over the years. My favourite track is probably 'Veduta III' by Formant Value & Simone Bauer - deep and seductive!
✧ Various - Variierende Töne Vol.I' - Melatónia ✧ Another comp that grabbed my attention - six beautiful tracks from Berlin-based label Melatónia. I throw the word favourite around a lot but Polygonia's 'Gaping Void' is probably my favourite track of the year so far - it's so so intricate.
✧ Laima Adelaide - Air - Oslated ✧ I knew I'd like this before I even gave it a listen - one of my favourite labels and artists combined. 'Rain' is beautifully sparse, with the coolest, boigant and bursting sound design.

New Music
Lots of Prague- and associated-music is lingering on the horizon of release, but I'll try and give you a nice rundown of what we have going at the moment.
LTE (Long Term Evolution) is a new label run by a small group of friends very active in the music scene here. They're about to release the debut album from Oblaka, one of those guys, who is actually pretty famous already under his Exhausted Modern alias, which seems to be heading out to pasture. Either way, it's a pretty good album, and there's a collab track with Ancestral Vision who I think I shouted already last time, or his label Unizone. Check out their first release too!
Building the Prague/London connection up further, the Yuku recently released a single (digitally for now, vinyl later) of ROOO, who some of you may now from playing the Riposte parties, or as part of SODAA, with the collective's first takeover being obliterated in the final hour by their set — proper 'ardcore bizniz, the kind that encourages you to write in a thick London accent when you don't have one. Anyway, this is great avant-pop, and I'm absolutely biased when I say it's great because I'm blessed to call ROOO and production/partner Ikävä Pii close friends, so this one is a bit of a gooey squishy "isn't music nice" moments.
More on the pop tip, and MORE! on the Prague/London connection (there's a trend emerging) is Sju, who just released a really nice "bedroom pop" single called contradictions. Sju will be familiar to some of you from Radio, I think, as she only recently came to Prague from the big smoke. Anyway, it's a great song, and I think it's just right for those that aren't so much into the dance music thing (I'm trying for ya, I am).
I've actually been fairly distant from Prague lately, being lucky enough to head to Solstice in Finland, so my closing suggest is gonna be from Emkay/gem-K, who tore up the dancefloor with a DJ set and then did some songs from the below album, with guest appearances from buddies Sansibar (if you know you know) and guitarist/singer/limelight-magnet Grande Mahogany, heard on track 2 on this LP. There's more of this on the way, so if you like powerful but relatable lyrics and killer, moody, yet somehow positive, beats, sign up for gem-K.
Finally, if any of you ARE in or around Prague this month, I'm really happy to be throwing an event at DIY space GRID with enmossed, who are a fantastic US based label, really one of my faves. It's on the 26th, just in case.
That’s all for this week
